Kalie Shorr | EP Release | The Back Corner | Nashville, TN
It was cold and dark walking up to The Back Corner for the show, but when I was hit with lights, sounds and the heat of excitement from the crowd of people inside this cozy venue that turned out for the show, I knew I was in for something good.
Everyone struggled to find the perfect location to watch the full band performance in the packed venue, including myself. The anticipation for the performance continued to grow while CMT (Country Music Television) covered the show. I kept running into the camera man who would scurry to and from each side of the venue to make sure he got the best angles and audience participation shots.
I’ll be honest, I didn’t have a chance to check out her music before I arrived at the venue, so I was not sure what to expect. Kalie walked out on stage, and immediately captured the audience’s attention. Even with all of the lights and snazzy, cotton candy colored background screens, she kept the focus on her and owned the songs that she performed.
Shorr’s track “Two Hands” had people singing and dancing along-- there were even a couple choreographed moves that true fans knew.
Her country bops with a hint of rock and a sprinkle of early 2000's pop, definitely had me moving to the beat. Towards the end of the release party, they revealed her new music video for “Two Hands.” Colorful and lively just like the song, the video only helped to showcase the story the lyrics tell.
Since it was an EP release, the show was short but packed with great music. Keep an eye out for Kalie Shorr-- I have a feeling her name is going to keep popping up in the country music scene.
