Calpurnia's Sold Out Show at Cannery Ballroom
Calpurnia performed to a sold out crowd at Cannery Ballroom in Nashville, TN earlier this month on March 2nd. While the band had originally been scheduled to play in Nashville on January 8th, the show had to be postponed due to vocalist / guitarist Finn Wolfhard becoming ill.
With that being said, the crowd was eager to see the show and there was a long line of fans outside the venue braving the cold in order to get a prime spot in this GA venue.
Lunar Vacation were direct support and the crowd erupted in deafening cheers as they took the stage. With easy going vocals melting into the dreamy instrumentals, Lunar Vacation got the audience amped up for the rest of the night.
The Atlanta based band’s short and sweet set list provided prime dancing opportunities, and their matching outfits added to their overall fun stage presence!
Opening with “Wasting Time,” Calpurnia dove into a stacked set list of both originals and cover songs. Their indie rock vibe has a hint of summertime surf rock mixed in, with “Greyhound” standing out as the fan favorite.
Calpurnia’s cover of “Where Is My Mind” from The Pixies put a new age spin on a classic track and was a daring move that was executed well. Their cover of Weezer’s “Say It Ain’t So” rocked the house and brought the crowd together for a great big sing along session.
It was fantastic to see fans coming out to show support for the full band, rather than just to see someone that they associate with a TV show. Finn Wolfhard is clearly a talented guy with a promising future in entertainment, and the rest of the band wasn’t messing around. Check out Ayla Tesler-Mabe — she shreds, and she means business!
