Gracie & The Valley | The Basement | Nashville, TN
On November 16th, we found ourselves back at The Basement for Gracie & They Valley’s album release show. Their new album, Chrysanthemum, is fueled by indie pop with emotion-driven lyrics and vulnerability.
This was an early show with only two artists on the bill. LinCo, a singer-songwriter duo, started the evening off with folksy melodies and breathtaking harmonies.
In between sets, the venue was filled with chipper chatter from the crowd, which included close friends and family. Gracie & The Valley took the stage as the intro to Chrysanthemum played loudly over the PA. Vocalist / guitarist Grace Bates happily urged the crowd to sing-along to “Doorbell Dixie” as the band launched into the album.
Grace’s vocals matched the recorded version well, with her broad vocal range being put to the test as the band made their way through the album. The live band performance added depth to each track as the six musicians on stage worked their magic.
As Chrysanthemum drew to a close, Gracie & The Valley played a handful of additional songs. Local artist Julia Cannon joined the band on stage for a performance of The Cardigans “Lovefool” as the show drew to a close.
Gracie & The Valley mix heartfelt lyrics with candid honesty, which in turn creates an immersive and down to earth live experience. You can learn more about Chrysanthemum here. Gracie & The Valley will be performing at The Basement again on November 28th for the Women Rock! event.
