The last night of Joyce Manor’s headlining tour with Remember Sports and Jeff Rosenstock hit the Basement East in Nashville, TN and was one of the tours we’ve been looking forward to for quite some time.
Remember Sports opened up the show and were a nice way to kick off the night. This Philadelphia based quartet’s subdued vibe didn’t stop the crowd from singing along and starting their night off with some indie fuzz rock. While there wasn’t a whole lot in terms of stage presence, Remember Sports more than made up for that with how incredibly tight their sounds was.
Jeff Rosenstock (and the rest of his band) were direct support and went right into “USA” from last year’s -POST. Jeff and Co. powered through an 18 song setlist that would have exhausted any other group halfway through due to their high level of energy. During the second to last song of the set, “You, In Weird Cities,” Rosenstock found his way to the bar with his saxophone to finish off the song before heading back to the stage and finishing up with a wild ride through “We Begged To Explode.”
We closed out the night with Joyce Manor taking the stage. Almost immediately, the already raucous crowd sent crowd surfers galore into the air. While frontman / guitarist Barry Johnson noted how long it has been since the band came through Nashville, the group made little small talk between songs in the 20+ track set. The energy in the room never let up as Joyce Manor knocked out songs throughout their discography, and of course it got a little extra wild for fan favorites like “Constant Headache” and “Catalina Fight Song.”
