Live On The Green

Venue: Public Square

City: Nashville, TN

Date: September 1, 2018

Every year, Nashville based radio station Lightning 100 puts on Live On The Green, a free outdoor concert series that brings in some of the nation’s biggest acts. This year happened to be the 10th anniversary of the event and we were able to check out the final night of festivities.

With two stages, we had a full day of hanging out in the sun and checking out some of the best local and national acts. You can checkout some of the highlights from the day below!

Nashville’s own Arlie took to the second stage early in the day and became everyone’s favorite doctors. The band, clad in doctors coats, came out chanting their own name sounding almost as if they were monks, and then ripped into one of the most interesting and fun sets of the day.

Larkin Poe opened up the main stage and the band, fronted by sisters Rebecca and Megan Lovell, delighted the crowd with their powerful and soulful brand of rock and roll. They’re definitely a band that we will be checking out more often.

There was a short thunderstorm delay before ZZ Ward took the stage but that didn’t slow down the artist once they finally got to start their performance. While the set had to be slightly shortened, ZZ Ward packed more punch into their set than most bands do with a full time slot.

Matt and Kim are one of the most fun live bands on the planet. The amount of energy and crowd interaction the duo has is second to none. While busting through their own hits, the band also threw in short covers of DMX and Drake, and by the end of the set had the crowd covered with balloons.

The night ended with Jimmy Eat World taking the stage and closing out a great day of music. The band had all of downtown Nashville singing along to all of the hits, including “Sweetness” and “The Middle.” We’ve had the opportunity to catch the band twice now this year and once again they certainly did not disappoint.
