Lucero Perform Unplugged At Acme

Acme Feed & Seed is a popular spot in Nashville for tourists & locals to party while downtown. Having served as a storefront starting in the late 1800’s, Acme is now well known as a multilevel venue with multiple bars and event spaces. As we’d never been to a show there before, I wasn’t sure what to expect! Once we got there, I realized just how intimate of a show this would be. A modest stage faced rows and rows of packed seating, with audience members actively waiting for the show to start. Lucero performed as part of an unplugged series on April 29th, with direct support from East Tennessee native Joey Kneiser.

La Dispute takes on the Royale

La Dispute rolled into Boston, MA with Gouge Away and Slow Mass on a cool Friday evening. Playing at the Royale, a pretty swanky venue, it was nice to see this place again. I've been there once before when I was on tour with The Wonder Years and Jetty Bones last year.

Knocked Loose Bring Their Headlining Tour To The Starland Ballroom

I had the opportunity to catch Knocked Loose on their headlining spring tour at the Starland Ballroom in New Jersey on April 13th. With a stacked line-up featuring The Acacia Strain, Harm’s Way, special guests Incendiary and more, you really can’t go wrong. If you’re unfamiliar with Starland Ballroom, it’s a small but spacious venue, with capacity at 2,000 people and the ability (and of course, reputation) to pack almost every show I’ve attended wall to wall.

Mat Kerekes brought his headlining tour through San Francisco at Bottom of the Hill on March 22nd with Jacob Sigman and Jetty Bones. We were lucky to be in town to check it out. It was great to see a show at a venue with such a rich history, as Bottom Of The Hill Bottom Of The Hill, as well as SFO’s 924 Gilman Street, serve as a West Coast version of NYC’s CBGB. Bottom Of The Hill has seen the early stages of majorly successful artists including Blink 182, The Flaming Lips, The White Stripes, and Beastie Boys, just to name a new.

Calpurnia's Sold Out Show at Cannery Ballroom

Calpurnia performed to a sold out crowd at Cannery Ballroom in Nashville, TN earlier this month on March 2nd. While the band had originally been scheduled to play in Nashville on January 8th, the show had to be postponed due to vocalist / guitarist Finn Wolfhard becoming ill.

With that being said, the crowd was eager to see the show and there was a long line of fans outside the venue braving the cold in order to get a prime spot in this GA venue.

Myylo Makes Cyborg Debut In Music City

Pop artist Myylo recently performed at The High Watt in Nashville with support from Mokita and Ni/Co on February 15th. Each artist brought something special to the stage and proved, once again, that Music City has more to offer than just country music. Myylo’s been gaining momentum in the local LGBTQIA+ community for some time, and released a new single just that morning which added to the anticipation for him to take the stage.

Cloudmouth + Basic Printer | The Basement | Nashville, TN

The Basement is, quite literally, a basement. Not to be confused with it’s relative, The Basement East, The Basement boasts a mere 100-ish capacity, and a close quarters feel.

Kicking off their set with a poll to figure out if the crowd thought that acoustic guitars or synthesizers were better, Cloudmouth’s vocalist / guitarist Kyle Numann had the audience laughing with jovial stage banter between band mates. This two band bill mixed genres from distant eras, yet common ground could be found in the sheer experimentalism present with each artist.

The Get Up Kids | Mercy Lounge | Nashville, TN

The Get Up Kids wound down their recent tour with a stop in Nashville, TN. With support from Ageist and Racquet Club, The Get Up Kids drew a large crowd which was impressive because Smashing Pumpkins were performing in Nashville on the same night. Mercy Lounge is certainly a small venue for an established band to play, making the show an intimate experience for everyone there as it was an up close and personal performance.
