Lucero Perform Unplugged At Acme

Acme Feed & Seed is a popular spot in Nashville for tourists & locals to party while downtown. Having served as a storefront starting in the late 1800’s, Acme is now well known as a multilevel venue with multiple bars and event spaces. As we’d never been to a show there before, I wasn’t sure what to expect! Once we got there, I realized just how intimate of a show this would be. A modest stage faced rows and rows of packed seating, with audience members actively waiting for the show to start. Lucero performed as part of an unplugged series on April 29th, with direct support from East Tennessee native Joey Kneiser.

Mat Kerekes brought his headlining tour through San Francisco at Bottom of the Hill on March 22nd with Jacob Sigman and Jetty Bones. We were lucky to be in town to check it out. It was great to see a show at a venue with such a rich history, as Bottom Of The Hill Bottom Of The Hill, as well as SFO’s 924 Gilman Street, serve as a West Coast version of NYC’s CBGB. Vinyl Theatre | The Soundbar | Orlando, FL

On October 28th, in a small venue in downtown Orlando, Florida, Vinyl Theatre took to the stage adorned in flashy astronaut inspired spacesuits, each one unique to the three members. Before the band stormed the stage, an S.O.S. type of audio track played through the venue. The voice in the audio spoke about a space fleet awaiting a signal, keeping with the overall theme of the band’s most recent album: Starcruiser.

The Acacia Strain | Exit/In | Nashville, TN

Let’s face it, anniversary tours have become commonplace over the last few years, cashing in on the idea of nostalgia. Rarely do you get two bands touring together on anniversaries of albums, and it’s even more rare that the albums were instrumental in progressing their genres. After The Burial and The Acacia Strain teamed up for the Rareform Across The Continent tour and we knew as soon as it was announced that it wouldn’t be one to miss. Check out our thoughts on the tour, which also included Make Them Suffer and Erra, after the jump.

The Get Up Kids | Mercy Lounge | Nashville, TN

The Get Up Kids wound down their recent tour with a stop in Nashville, TN. With support from Ageist and Racquet Club, The Get Up Kids drew a large crowd which was impressive because Smashing Pumpkins were performing in Nashville on the same night. Mercy Lounge is certainly a small venue for an established band to play, making the show an intimate experience for everyone there as it was an up close and personal performance.

Jimmy Eat World | The Ryman Auditorium | Nashville, TN

If you know anything about the city of Nashville, you’re well aware that The Ryman Auditorium has been the home of more high profile country artists than you can count dating back to the '60's. Makeout | The Abbey | Orlando, FL

Makeout, formerly known as Trophy Wives, are making a name for themselves while also bringing old and new fans with them. Opening last night for Icon For Hire, the band proved they could put on just as big of a show as a headlining act. Although most in the crowd were there to see the main act, Makeout definitely owned the stage. Pairing their never ending energy and unapologetically real lyrics, the band truly gave the show their all.
