Madeleine Debuts Music Video For "Carpet"

Written by Kayla Albee

Connecticut native Madeleine has made her home in Music City, a perfect place for artists to grow. Today, she debuted the music video for “Carpet,” the opening track off of her late 2018 album Matter Of It.

This slow moving, easy going Americana track offers a sincere depiction of mental health. The video provides a clear look into the murky waters of isolation, anxiety, and depression woven together with delicate lyrics. As Madeleine sings, “Carpet under my feet / I’ve been trying hard to keep it clean / Maybe I should just go back to sleep” and “3, 2, 1, disappear / I’m still alone / stuck at home in my room,” the video beautifully contrasts how internal struggles can be invisible with rose colored hues, sparkles, and flowers cascading down the walls.

While “Carpet” is a song about feeling lonesome, it allows the listener to connect with Madeleine on a deep level. You can watch the music video, directed by Frank Maroney, below and let us know your thoughts in the comments.
