Waterfall Wash // Chris
Written by: Kayla Albee
Waterfall Wash dropped a music video for their newest single "Chris" on July 18th. This track's inspiration stems from vocalist Michael Roddy's hometown pal who had relocated to Nashville close to a decade ago prior to Roddy making the move himself. (P.S -- Chris makes an appearance in the video!)
This upbeat indie / pop rock song is accompanied by a house party themed music video all while the band performs in the living room. As the video progresses, guests at the party start to drop dead-- a guy with a lampshade on his head falls over in the kitchen, someone playing cards face-plants onto the table, and a chatty Cathy on the phone slumps over. Be it a representation of people "moving on" or simply a quirky twist, Waterfall Wash worked with Solar Cabin Studios to create this quirky and cultish video. An interesting aspect is the Oxford Comma-esque filming style, resulting in a video composed of one continuous shot.
With a resounding vocalization of "You need to break out" and references to getting away from your home town (a constant theme, especially in the pop punk world) this track generates a feeling of getting out of whatever place you feel stuck and stagnant in and making things happen for yourself. Ending with the band themselves sprawled out on the floor (minus the drummer) this quirky video is sure to take you for a spin.
